The Spanish League 1st Team of the year was announced today. Liron Cohen who led Leon to the Cup Finals and to the Final Four made the 1st Team as the best point guard in the league.
Next Stop: EuroLeague
Liron Cohen returned to Israel today after taking part in the L.A Sparks' training camp and signed with Slovakian Champions Kosit for the upcoming season. "The offer from Slovakia was an offer I couldn't refuse, financially and since they play in the EuroLeague", Cohen told 'Safsal'.
Liron Goes to Hollywood
Liron Cohen's great performances in the Spanish league and cup drew the WNBA's attention, and after a brief negotiation Cohen signed with the Los Angeles Sparks and will join Lisa Leslie and probably Candace Parker in L.A this summer. "I still can't believe it but I'm truly happy", said Cohen in a phone call from Spain, "I've been chasing this dream for three years and started to realize it might not happen, and that's when it did happen".
Liron Cohen Player of the Month
We tried to think who in the league deserves this month's award. Shay Doron who's playing so well for Ramla, or maybe Deanna Jackson again because there is no better proof for how valuable she is? And then we remembered our star overseas. Liron Cohen has had an amazing month where she led Leon to a historic cup finals which ended a basket shy of the title. She was the tournament MVP and she's Safsal's player of February.
