Doron & Cohen Up For EuroLeague All-Star

Liron Cohen and Shay Doron, Israel's representatives in the EuroLeague, are among the candidates for the traditional All-Star game to be held on March 8th. Israel can be proud of having two out of the 10 European guards on the list.

The traditional EuroLeague All-Star game between the best of Europe and the rest of the world will be held this year on March 8th – the International Women's Day – in Paris. The fans will vote to determine the starters of both teams, who will be announced on the 9th of February. The substitutes and coaching staff will be named on the 12th of February.
Doron is the leading scorer among the 10 European guards with 15.4 points per game, she adds 4.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game for Besiktas who did not make it into the 1/8th final stage. Liron Cohen is averaging 12.5 points and 5.9 assists (3rd best in the EuroLeague) for Kosice, who will face Valencia in the 1/8th final.
The 2009 All-Star game will be the 4th straight game, and the European squad will try to repeat as winners after last year's 111-86 victory. In 2007 the rest of the world won 93-80, and in the 1st game in 2006 Europe won 86 – 67.
