Liron Cohen returned to Israel today after taking part in the L.A Sparks' training camp and signed with Slovakian Champions Kosit for the upcoming season. "The offer from Slovakia was an offer I couldn't refuse, financially and since they play in the EuroLeague", Cohen told 'Safsal'.

Liron Cohen (25, 5'9) who just wrapped up a great season in Spain after leading Leon to the Cup Finals & Final Four, will move on to the EuroLeague next season. Cohen, who was picked as the Cup tournament MVP, had a very impressive season (13.0 points, 3.0 assists per game) and the offer from the Slovakian champions was quick to arrive.

"I wanted to play in the EuroLeague and financially the offer was excellent", said Cohen. "I had offers from Spain also, last season I chose Spain even though I could have gone elsewhere for a lot more money in order to prove myself and make progress. The offer from Slovakia was an offer I couldn't refuse, financially and since they play in the EuroLeague", she added.

Joining Cohen on Kosit will be Sindey Spencer from L.A and Cathrine Kraayeveld from the New York Liberty. Kosit has won the championship in the last two seasons, last year they went a perfect 28-0 in the local league. In the EuroLeague the team finished with a 3-7 record. There's no question the Spanish league is a lot more competitive.

"I would have loved to stay in Spain but the financial difference was very significant", said Cohen, who signed her contract very early while many players prefer to wait and gather more offers. "The top teams sign players early. I could have sat around and waited for an offer from Russia but I don't think its right for me to go to Russia at this stage of my career, I feel like a team like Kosit is right for me. Its the EuroLeague, I'll have the stage to shine and maybe next year go to Russia. Overall I'm very happy with my decision. I like to be calm in the summer, know where I'm going to play, it's important for me to not worry about it and focus on the National Team", she concluded.
