Ramla will not play the 07/08 season in the EuroLeague after all. The team signed Tangela Smith, who played in Israel five seasons ago.

Ramla has declared that the club will play in the EuroLeague this upcoming season but despite all that talk, FIBA wasn't impressed and decided not to include Ramla among the 24 EuroLeague teams for next season. Ramla will play in the Europe Cup in 07/08, as they did last season.

Tangela Smith (6'4, 30) who is currently playing for the Phoenix Mercury in her 10th season in the WNBA has signed with Ramla for the upcoming season. Smith joins perviously signed Chasity Melvin, Anastasia Kostaki, Shay Doron and Natasha Andjelic.

This season in Phoenix, Smith is averaging 12.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, to help the Mercury contend for a playoff spot. Her career averages in the WNBA stand at 11.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

Smith is ranked 3rd on the WNBA's all time career blocks list. She spent her first seven seasons in the WNBA with the Sacramento Monarchs, playing along side Yolanda Griffith. In 2005 Smith was traded to Charlotte, and played two seasons there until the club folded. The expansion draft sent her to Minnesota, who traded her to Phoenix in exchange for the 2007 #1 pick in the draft.

Outside of the U.S, Smith has traveled all over the globe - from Poland, to Italy, Spain, and recently - Korea. Smith of course played one season in Israel for Ramat Hasharon, in 99/00 and averaged 14.2 points per game.
