Anda Ramat Hasharon signed Chicago Sky guard Jia Perkins, who played in Raanana Hertzeliya last season.

Anda Ramat Hasharon signed Jia Perkins (25, 5'8) for the upcoming season. Perkins joins Deanna Jackson, Daliborka Vilipic, Merav Dori, Nomi Kolodny, Limor Mizrachi, Tamar Maoz and Shani Levi.

Perkins signed with Raanana Hertzeliya in November of last season, and played in 10 league games before flying over to the States to be by her father's side as he went into surgery. Due to complications with his condition Perkins had to stay with her family and did not return to Israel. Her father passed away on April 25th. While in Raanana Hertzeliya, Perkins averaged 16.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

Perkins is currently playing for the WNBA's Chicago Sky, in her 2nd year with the club. Last week Perkins had an amazing game with 39 points and 10 assists in Chicago's double overtime win at Sacramento. No player in WNBA has ever registered 30 points and 10 assists in a single game. Perkins was named the league's Eastern Conference Player of The Week, after posting 24.3 points, 6.3 boards and 5.0 assists per game over 3 games.
Perkins got a chance to show what she can do after the Sky's starting point guard, Dominique Canty, was injured on July 23rd. In the first 12 games of the season prior to Canty's injury, Perkins scored 4.8 points in 13.7 minutes per game.

Last season in Chicago Perkins played in 30 games, including 27 starts, and averaged 9.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 28 minutes per game. Before that she played two seasons for the now defunct Charlotte Sting, the team that drafted her with the 35th pick in the 2004 draft. Perkins missed nearly the entire 04 season due to pregnancy and the birth of her daughter, and that caused a lot of teams to pass up on her in the draft. In 2005 Perkins played in 30 games with the Sting and averaged 5.0 ppg in 15.5 mpg.

Ramat Hasharon's coach, Orna Ostfeld, said about the new addition to her team: "She is an excellent player, very versatile who can play 3 positions. Her big advantage is the balance between her personal scoring ability and being a team player. She fits the team concept we're trying to build and I'm very happy she'll play for us".

Perkins graduated from Texas Tech in 2004, she played three seasons slong with Plenette Pierson. In 16 games as a senior, before she left the team due to pregnancy, she led the team in scoring with 16.5 ppg, and also added 4,4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. As a junior Perkins averaged 15.9 points, 5.1 boards and 2.8 assists per game and was named All Big-12 1st Team for the 2nd time in her career.
