Dionnah Jackson to Ashdod

Maccabi Ashdod continues to gear up for the 06/07 season. The team signed Dionnah Jackson who played in Bnei Yehuda last year, and re-signed Karin Agasi and Bat El Lazmi.

Ashdod is close to completing the roster for next season. The team management and 2nd year coach Dalia Bushinski have made an effort to keep the roster from last season, and resigned Brandi McCain, Michal Epstein and Inbal Shnapper a few weeks ago. Tonight the team announced that Karin Agasi and Bat El Lazmi will continue also, and that Dionnah Jackson is joining.

Dionnah Jackson (24, 5'9) joined Bnei Yehuda in round 6 last season, when the team had a 1-5 record. She helped turn things around in Bnei Yehuda with her ability to play multiple positions and contribue in all aspects of the game. Jackson finished the season averaging 12.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Bnei Yehuda won 14 out of 17 games with Jackson, finished 3rd in the standings and made the playoff semi finals. Jackson participated in the Chicago Sky training camp this month but was released five days before the season.

Ashdod also signed shooting guard Karin Agasi (18, 5'8) and point guard Bat El Lazmi (20, 5'7). Agasi was named newcomer of the year in her first season at Ashdod, she averaged 9.1 points in 23.1 minutes per game while shooting 59% from the filed before suffering a season ending injury in round 18. For Bat El Lazmi this will be her 3rd season in Ashdod. The 06/07 season was the best of her career, she averaged 6.0 points and 1.8 assists in 26.4 minutes per game.
