Less than 24 hours after winning the WNBA championship with the Detroit Shock, Plenette Pierson officially signed with Elizur Ramla for the upcoming season.

Ramla also added Monique Currie – the 3rd pick in this year's draft and one of the WNBA's up and coming stars.

Ramla released today that Plenette Pierson, the newly crowned WNBA champion, has signed with the team for the 06/07 season. Pierson (25, 6'2) was a huge factor in the 5th and deciding game with 16 points and 6 rebounds off the bench. Pierson had the answer for the Shock in a game where Cheryl Ford got into foul trouble and Ruth Riley was not at her best. The energetic Pierson showed a lot of aggressiveness as she made 10 of 13 free throws on the night. Coach Bill Laimbeer acknowledged his talented forward after the game: "Plenette played big. She's played big a lot of the year, comes in tonight, 16 points, 6 rebounds, attacked the rim, got them in foul trouble. Superior player."

Pierson played for Ramat Hen in the 03/04 season, the team made it all the way to the finals where they lost to Ramla in four games. Pierson averaged 19 points & 7.2 rebounds per game on the season, and re-signed with Ramat Hen the following year. Pierson did not fit in well with the 04/05 Ramat Hen team, and was released after only four games despite being named the preseason MVP by the league's coaches. Ramat Hen's coach during both seasons was none other than current Ramla coach, Eli Rabi.

Last season Pierson played for Maddaloni, Italy, and ranked 5th in the league in points per game with 18.7. In Europe Cup play, Pierson averaged 17.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.

Pierson, a Texas Tech graduate, was the 4th overall pick in the 2003 draft by Phoenix. She spent two and a half seasons there before being traded to Detroit in exchange for Andrea Stinson, who eventually didn't play even one minute for the Mercury. This season, her first full season with the Shock, Pierson averaged 6.5 points and 3.9 boards in 16.6 minutes per game. She improved to 8.8 points and 5.4 boards in 19.6 minutes per game in the playoffs.

Pierson and Currie join previously signed Laine Selwyn, Tali Noy, Luda Rom, Ina Gourevitch, Katia Abramzon & Michal Epstein.
