New coach for Ashdod

Dahlia Bushinsky, a coach and manager from Bnei Hertzelia, is Maccabi Ashdod's new women's head coach.

Dahila Bushinsky doubled the amount of female head coaches in the league when she joined Maccabi Ashdod as a head coach, following the departure of Tal Arie to Tel Kabir. Bushinski arrives from Bnei Hertzelia, where she was the administrative manager of the youth department and girls' head coach at Hayovel High School.

"It was a very tough decision because I'm leaving a very warm home at Hertzelia. I've been there six years, manager of the youth department for boys & girls, one of the best departments in the country", she said.

Opportunities for women to coach in Division 1 don't come along every day, and Bushinsky went for it despite the risk. "I love coaching, I've been a coach for 16 years overall and I want to fulfill my potential at the highest levels. I see this as an opportunity to get to the National Teams. I was an assistant coach for two years with the under 16 girls team and I was offered to stay another year, but I didn't take it because I see myself as #1 and not #2", she summed up.

Ashdod has based itself in the league in the last few years with a few peaks here and there, and the budget is not going to change for next season. "Our goal is a place in the top 6", Bushinsky said. "We're not one of the big teams but I believe. Point guard Brandi McCain will continue from last season".
