Monique Coker of Raanana Hertzelia & Shaun Gortman who played with Ashdod are the newest members of the growing pack of Israeli league foreigners signing with the WNBA. Coker signed with Connecticut and Gortman with Seattle.

The Connecticut Sun, Eastern Conference Champions in the last two years, signed Monique Coker of Raanana Hertzelia. Coker was a member of the LA Sparks in 2004, and played three games. One of Coker's main competitors for a spot on the Sun roster is none other than LeCoe Willingham of Haifa Motzkin, who will try to keep her spot for the 3rd straight season. The Sun have a strong front court with Margo Dydek, Taj McWilliams Franklin and Asjha Jones. Coker will finish up her season this Monday, and she's currently ranked 3rd in the league with 21.1 points per game and 2nd in the league with 11.6 rebounds per game.

The Seattle Storm, WNBA Champs in 2004, signed Shaunzinski Gortman who played for Maccabi Ashdod in the last two years. Last year Gortman participated in the Mystics' training camp but was released before the season. She played two seasons with the Lynx (2002, 2003) and played four games with the Mystics in 2004. This year in Ashdod Gortman averaged 16.4 points and 10.4 rebounds, and was one of five players in the league to average a double double despite her size.
