Andrea Gardner (25, 6'3) will replace Nakia Sanford in Hapoel Tel Aviv after the break.
"It was a mutual decision. Socially she fit great with the team but we have rebounding problems and expected her to provide it" said Roi Izenberg. Sanford finished the season averaging 12.9 points and 7.2 boards per game.
Sanford will go on to play in Italy. In the 02/03 season Sanford also left Israel mid season, when she played for Haifa Motzkin.
Gardner, a Howard graduate, played one season in the WNBA for Utah in 2002, and is considered a rebounding specialist. Last winter in the NWBL she averaged 8.5 points and 6.8 rebs in 26.4 minutes per game at San Jose.
Gardner started the 05/06 season in Spain and played 10 games. She posted 10.7 pts & 9.1 boards per game on 42.2% from 2-pt range and 62.0% from the line. In six Europe Cup games she averaged 9.5 pts & 8.5 boards.
