Shay Doron wins ACC Player of the Week

Shay Doron was named ACC Player of The Week after leading the Terps to two wins last weekend. Maryland moved up to 10th place in the top 25, and beat Gonzaga last night, 88-50. Tonight, the Terps face last year's finalist.

Doron was named the ACC's player of the week after averaging 23 points on 58.6% from inside the arc, 55.5% shooting from outside the arc (5/9), 5.5 assists and 5.5 boards per game. Doron, a national player of the year candidte, won the award for the 2nd time in her career. In Maryland's 2nd game of the season, Doron became the fastest player to reach 1,000 points in her career, needing only 64 games to do so.

On Tuesday the Terps moved to 10th in the polls and broke into the top 10 rankings for the first time since Feburary 1993. The Terps won their 2 first games by an average of 33 points.

Last night Maryland beat Gonzaga 88-50 in the Paradise Jam tournament. Freshman Marissa Coleman led Maryland with 21 points, Doron had 8 on 3 for 12 shooting.

Tonight, the Terps play 9th ranked Michigan State who made the championship game last season. Michigam State lost last night to #1 ranked Tennessee, Maryland will square off against the Lady Vols on the 26th.
