Shyra Ely bails on Raanana

Raanana Hertzeliya's Shyra Ely left Israel this morning. A source says she signed to play in China. The Israeli season starts on Sunday.
According to Ely's Israeli agent, Huki Nir, Ely went back home due to homesickness, and didn't sign with any other team.
Raanana Hertzeliya suffered a huge blow two days before the season begins as Shyra Ely left Israel. Raanana Hertzeliya host Hapoel Tel Aviv this Sunday, they'll have to play with only 2 Americans against one of the league's stronger teams. Ely, from the WNBA's San Antonio Silver Stars, was Raanana Hertzeliya's marquee player.
Coach Tal Natan said the team is making every effort to find a replacement soon. "It's absurd, if a team decides to release a player this late they have to pay her according to the contract but a player can just leave, regardless of the damage it causes the team."
