Timeout with Ornit Shwartz
Lior Klinger ,08/05/2005
Safsal is getting ready for the women's last chance tournament with the 4th timeout article featuring Ornit Shwartz, a former ballet dancer.

Birth date: 6/21/1979
Current team: Anda Ramat Hasharon
Nickname: Shwartzi
Career highlights:
Game 4 in the 99/00 finals when I won the championship with Ramla in Karmiel.
The national team game vs. Germany when I scored 35 points in the win.
My first cup, in 04/05 with Anda Ramat Hasharon against Ramla.
I started playing basketball: when I was 13, after a tough dilemma between ballet dancing and basketball (I danced for 10 years). I eventually chose the orange ball because of my family background, my brother and dad always played and I wanted to play with them, and since I was the tallest and most developed out of all the dancers so I decided my height would be of better use in basketball.
Best defender on the NT: (besides myself of course :)) is Shiri Sharon, her ability to defend 1 on 1 is the highest. In my opinion Rivi Grinboym is the best stealer.
Advice for young players: Always remember the road to success goes through many difficulties. To make it to the highest level it's not enough to practice with the team, you have to train on your own and get stronger. Remember being a basketball player is a way of life, sometimes you have to sacrifice other things but when you succeed and you're winning than all the hard work pays off. There's no better satisfaction than winning tournaments or championships or cups.
Favorite road arena: Beit Dani (Bnei Yehuda's gym)
