Shay Doron is without a doubt 'Safsal's player of the month for July.
Shay Doron led Israel's Under-20 NT to the division B European Championship and on to division A in the next tournament. Israel went a perfect 6-0 in the tournament and Doron was named MVP of the championship. She averaged 24.7 pts (48% 2pt FGs, 89.6% FT), 5.5 boards, 4.7 steals and 2.7 assists per game. Doron was the tournament's leading scorer and stealer, also ranked 1st in 2pt FG% and FT%, and 4th in assists per game.
In Israel's 72-66 win over Sweden which clinched the division A berth, Doron scored 15 of her 30 points in the 4th quarter. In Israel's 60-56 win over host Lithuania, Doron missed out on a triple double with 25 pts, 10 steals and 9 rebounds.
Just 4 days after the final game in Lithuania, Doron changed uniforms and joined the U.S team in the Maccabiah. Doron was named the tournament's MVP after leading the USA to a gold medal with a 5-0 record. She scored 21 pts in the gold medal game, a 78-53 victory over Israel.
