Marianna Raguz, who played 4 years in Israel, signed with the WNBA’s San Antonio Silver Stars and will attend training camp starting April 24.
Raguz, 29, started this season with Hapoel Tel Aviv. She was the league’s leading scorer for a good portion of the season with 19.8 ppg but Hapoel decided to let her join Anda Ramat Hasharon’s European roster and pursue a title once Hapoel’s playoff hopes were slim to none. In six games with Ramat Hasharon, Raguz helped the team advance to the final four with 14.7 ppg.
The Silver Stars’ starting SF from last year, Adrienne Goodson, signed with Houston for the 2005 season. The team drafted Kendra Wecker out of Kansas State with the 4th pick in the draft and she looks like the leading candidate to get the start at the 3 position. The race for the back up SF spot looks wide open and from what Raguz showed us in her 4 seasons here, it’s hers to take.
