Aluma had enough

Following last night’s events after Ramla’s loss in game 1 at Ramat Hasharon, when Ramla fired coach Tal Natan live on TV saying they should have done so at the half, Goren decided to follow Natan’s footsteps. Goren is retiring at the age of 35. A legend in Israeli women’s basketball, Goren told ‘Safsal’: “it’s hard for me to remain a part of a team that behaves in such a way.”

The team's assistant coach and trainer also resigned today.
Fired live on TV

“I reached the conclusion that I want to retire a while ago, I asked Ramla to release me due to personal reasons a month ago” said Goren. “They asked me to stay till the end of the season and I agreed cause I thought that was the right thing to do for the good of the team. After what happened yesterday, it’s hard for me to remain a part of a team that behaves in such a way.”

Do you sense any similar feelings coming from other Ramla players, not about retiring but in a sense that they no longer desire to play for Elizur Ramla?
“No, I can only speak for myself,” said Goren. “Their behavior is unacceptable and unforgivable. It’s fine to have differences, I don’t understand where the idea of firing him even came from but there’s a way to do it. You just don’t treat a coach like that” concluded Goren.

Expect a worthy tribute article to one of the greatest Israeli basketball players ever in the next few days here on ‘Safsal’.
