Less than 24 hours after winning the Israeli Cup with Anda Ramat Hasharon, Orna Ostfeld won another title – The International Olympic Committee's Woman Of The Year In Europe in promoting women’s sports. Ostfeld was chosen out of 68 candidates in a special ceremony in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The president of the women’s sports committee in the international Olympic board crowned Ostfeld as the woman of the year in Europe, for doing more to promote women’s sports than any other woman on the face of the continent. The award is a bronze statue of a woman carrying the Olympic symbol. Ostfeld estimated the statue’s weight at 20 kg.
Ostfeld received a standing ovation as she made her way to the podium while it was announced that just last night she led her team to the Israeli Cup. Yianna Angelopoulous, the organizer of the 2004 Olympic games in Athens won the world title
