Five Years without Her
Safsal ,11/05/2009
Today, November 5th, marks 5 years since the tragic car crash that took the life of Israeli NT player, Nili Natho.

It's hard to believe five years have past since that awful friday night in 2004, where a tragic road accident took the life of Nili Natho, her sister Diane and their cousin Raja, as they were on a short drive home. Another tragedy struck the family a few months ago as Nili's father, Avram, died of a sudden heart failure.

Sharon Zeevi, one of many people in the basketball world who remain close to the Natho family, said that this year the annual sports day in Nili's home village will not take place. Instead, the players and friends will visit the graves on Saturday morning. "Sadly this year, since the Natho family is morning the passing of Avram, we decided togther to postpone the sports day and go visit Miryam and Ann. The women's basketball family is in pain and misses Nili and Diane. Israel's national team players and many other friends are not going to forget Nili".

Nili played for Raanana for four years. In 01/02 she was the leading Israeli scorer with 13.7 points per game, and she stayed with the club till 02/03. In 03/04 she moved to Ramla, where she scored 6.8 points per game and won the championship and cup. She stayed in Ramla the following season, but only played in two games before the horrible accident. In her short 22 years, Nili won three Israeli cups and one Championship, and played in all of Israel's National Teams.

Rest in peace...
