Ashley Follows Sister, Joins Ramla

A few days after her sister Courtney signed with Ashdod, Ashley Paris joins Elizur Ramla. The sisters will face each other for the first time in round three.

With less personal awards, less WNBA experience and fewer pounds, the lesser known Paris twin has signed with last season's runner up Elizur Ramla. But Ashley (21, 6'3), whose sister was one of the best centers in college hoops and now plays for the Monarchs, just might be a better fit for the Israeli league. She joins Deanna Jackson, Noelle Quinn, Ancuta Stonesco and Maya Isarof who are already signed with Ramla.

Ashley spent her college years in Oklahoma mostly in her sister's shadow, but she has improved from season to season and was a key player for the Sooners. Before her senior year she lost 27 pounds, improved her quickness and outside shot and began to step out of her sister's shadow and raising her draft stock. LA indeed picked her with the 22nd pick but on a team with Candace Parker, Lisa Leslie, Tine Thompson and Delisha Milton, making the team wasn't very realistic.

Ashley Paris once commented on her sister's amazing 66 double doubles in 69 games saying that wouldn't have been the case had she defended Courtney. It'll be interesting to see when they finally play each other, if she really steps out of Courtney's shadow. At least in our extremely guard-oriented league, her chances look pretty good.
