Electra Ramat Hasharon has signed Laine Selwyn, Israel's national team point guard, till the end of the season. Ramat Hasharon decided to add Selwyn since Erin Phillips is still not ready to play. "It will be great to be back", said Selwyn who will make her debut on Thursday vs. Raanana Hertzeliya.

Erin Phillips is still recovering from her knee injury and will be out at least for another month, so Ramat Hasharon contacted Laine Selwyn and signed her. Selwyn has spent the last two seasons with Ramla and is coming back for a 5th season in Israel, 2nd term with Ramat Hasharon where she played in 04/05.

Selwyn, who helped lead Israel to the European Championships this summer, started the season with Dynamo Moscow – a leading candidate to win the Europe Cup. Selwyn didn’t see much playing time in Russia due to the Russian rules, and didn’t play that much in the easy Europe Cup games either. Over 9 games in the Russian league, Selwyn played 10.1 minutes and had 4.2 points and 2.0 assists per game. In the Europe Cup the numbers were 6.3 points and 2.9 assists in 17.3 minutes per game.

Over the break Dynamo let Plenette Pierson and Janell Burse go. Selwyn also asked to leave. "The team was great, individually the players were better than any team I had been on" said Selwyn. "I think we had a lot of room for improvement even though we were beating teams by a lot". As for spending too much time on the bench, like most Americans in the Russian league, Selwyn did not have much to say. "I wouldn't say I was satisfied but over time I accepted my role".

This will be Selwyn's 5th season in Israel, in her last three seasons she won a title. The cup with Ramat Hasharon in 04/05 – Ramat Hasharon's last title – and the championship & cup with Ramla in the last two seasons. "It would be great to be in Ramat Hasharon again, they have a great team" added Selwyn who averaged 10.8 points and 4.4 assists per game for Ramla last year. "The whole security situation doesn't really worry me, it does a little but I've been in Israel so many times and I just pray everything will be ok".
