Despite Everything, Ashdod Gets Stronger

Despite the fact they cannot live or practice in their southern city, Ashdod has not given up on the season. The team announced today the signing of Jennifer Fleischer from Ramat Hasharon. Alex Anderson from Hapoel Tel Aviv was supposed to sign but ended up going to Turkey.

Maccabi Ashdod, who is currently 5th in the standings but only one game away from 1st place, is not giving up on the season despite the many difficulties the team is facing as a result of the situation in the south of Israel. The city of Ashdod has suffered many missile attacks, one of which even cost the life of a local woman, a mother of 4. For obvious reasons Maccabi Ashdod cannot practice in their city, they have been practicing in gyms in the center of Israel and have found temporary housing arrangements for the team's five American players.

The move to the center has convinced the team's American players – Tamara Moore, Sherill Baker & Brasheeda Elohim – to return to Israel and has allowed Ashdod to look for a new foreigner in place of Jennifer Humphrey who was released.

Ashdod is still looking for a foreigner since Anderson decided to go to Turkey, but they did sign Jennifer Fleischer. Israel's National Team center started the season in Gdinya (Poland) before moving to Ramat Hasharon, and she will provide some inside force for Ashdod. Fleischer was signed till January with Ramat Hasharon, in the 5 league games she played she recorded 5.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game.
