Ramla Advances to the 1/8th Finals

If this was the final rehearsal for Ramla before the cup, Raanana Hertzeliya's players who were sitting in the stands can be pleased. Ramla wasn't really up for this game considering they won by 17 in Portugal last week, but still managed to hold on and win a close game, 67-62.

Ramla 67 – Coimbra 62
Ramla looked tired and out of focus and couldn't shake the stubborn Portuguese team, but they'll have to get themselves together fast. Ramla had 27 turnovers and nearly lost to a team who shot 31.6% from inside the arc, despite dominating the boards 53-34. "Elementary stuff weren’t working for us, the moment I saw us missing from the line like that I stopped being angry. Tomorrow we'll give them a day off and hope for the best", said Eli Rabi. In the next stage Ramla will meet the Greek league leader. Game I is in Greece on Jan 29th and game II in Ramla on Feb 5th.

Coimbra, led by the excellent Abrosia Anerson (18 pts), didn’t trail by more than 9 the entire game. Adia Barnes came off the bench to help Ramla take a 13-7 lead with 3:30 to go in the 1st, but Anderson hit two 3s to tie the score. Ramla finished the 1uarter better with aggressive man to man which forced turnovers and took a 19-15 lead as Tan White completed a 3-pt play.

The visitors took their only lead with a 3pt-play and a 3 by Anderson, 22-21, 2:30 minutes into the 2nd. Both teams traded baskets and turnovers, and Eli Rabi got sick of it fist. Following a timeout and a Barnes 3, good minutes on both ends of the court and points by Ogorodnikova who also found Levitzky at the buzzer made it 36-31 at the half.

Even though Rabi sent his starting five to open the 3rd, it was a horrible quarter for Ramla who scored only eight points. Levitzky, Ramla's lone bright spot tonight, hit from mid range to make it 42-37 with six minutes to go in the 3rd, but Ramla added just one more basket the rest of the way. Ramla led 44-43 after 3.

Ramla got its biggest lead at 59-50 midway through the 4th as White and Inbal Mizrachi hit threes. The visitors answered with a 10-2 run to cut it to 60-61 with 2 minutes left, but Ramla made enough free throws to hold on and win.

For Ramla:
Tan White 19 pts, 7 rebs
Nicky Anosike 12 pts, 16 rebs
Adia Barnes 11 pts
Lena Ogorodnikova 8 pts, 12 rebs
Katia Levitzky 8 pts, 9 rebs
