Nightmare For Hapoel

"Ouch", was the word that repeated itself on both benches at the end of Ramat HaSharon's strange 85-36 win over Hapoel Tel Aviv, definitely a negative record in the last decade at least.

Hapoel came into this game with somewhat of a momentum, a win over Tel Kabir and a near win over Raanana Hertzeliya, and everyone expected them to give Ramat Hasharon a good fight for at least three quarters. Tonight Hapoel surrendered much sooner, in the 1st quarter. The numbers tell the story, 9 for 35 shooting, 4 for 25 from 3-point range, and even 60% from the free throw line. It just would not fall.
Ramat Hasharon enjoyed a great all-around game, with 35 bench points. "This game was strange, we shot extremely well and we did not expect this kind of game" said Orna Ostfeld., "once I realized what this game is turning out to be I let everyone play which was good for us".
Ebony Hoffman and Abiola Wabara led Ramat Hasharon on a 12-2 run to start the game. Things did not get much better for Hapoel who's woes on offense took a toll on the defense, and another 8-0 run for the locals made it 24-11 after 1.
From here on out it was clear that the remaining three quarters are for the record, though that has not happened to Hapoel before. Ramat Hasharon raced to a 35-14 lead with 5 to go in the half. Alex Anderson tried to respond with a 3-point play but the local blitz continued as Jia Perkins scored four points and her team led 39-20 at the break.
Then came the worst quarter of all, Hapoel scored just 5 points in the 3rd. Ramat Hasharon just kept running for fastbreaks and the lead reached 30, but it wasn't done growing. 61-25 was the score after 3.
Hapoel scored 7 points in a row to start the 4th, but added just six more the rest of the way. Ramat Hasharon cruised to another 24-point quarter before the game finally ended.
