They advanced last night thanks to a 66 – 65 overtime win over Extrugasa. The Protégées relay on American forward Ambrossia Anderson, the eurocup's #1 scorer with 24.3 points per game who's made short WNBA appearances since being drafted out of BYU in 2006. The first game will be held in Portugal on December 11th, and the deciding game will be held in Ramla on the 18th. From here on out, the system of play is a 2 game home and away series. If Ramla doesn’t slip up, their 1/8th finals opponent will probably be Athinaikos of Greece who are expected to eliminate Latvia's SK Cesis. The Greek went 5 – 1 in the group stage and relay on an excellent American duo, Katie Geralds & LaToya Davis.
If Ramla makes the quarter finals they're likely to meet Szeged of Hungary, who are ranked 3rd overall and relay mostly on local talent. If the Hungarians fail to make it, the opponent will be Dynamo Kursk who crushed Raanana Hertzelia twice, or Mondeville of France (Lenae Williams), or Panionios of Greece (Sheri Sam & Lori Nero).
If Ramla makes the semis, they're expected to meet Turkey's Galatasary who are ranked 2nd overall and have great foreigners with the likes of Seimone Augustus & Taj McWilliams, along with Turkey national team players. The less likely opponents could be Russia's Chevakata (Loree Moore & Nakia Sanford) or Italy's Parma who has three Australia national team players. A date with Laine Selwyn and the excellent Dynamo Moscow will have to wait till the finals.
