Big Win For Ramla in Spain

Ramla got an impressive win on the road over Rivas, the Spanish league leaders, 73-61, to maintain a perfect Eurocup record and secure 1st place in the bracket. Ramla broke away from Rivas in the 4th using a team game, a great outside shooting day and strong defense. Tan White led the way with 19 points.

Ramla 73 – Rivas 61
After Ramla's 2-point win over Rivas about three weeks ago, no one expected the Israelis to win the rematch in Spain.
The 1st quarter was close as a duel developed between Tan White and Cathy Joens. Joens scored 11 in the quarter, White just 10 but Ramla scored the last six points of the quarter to lead 20-16. Ramla still led 29-28 with 3:40 left in the half before Joens with 4 points (her only points of the 2nd quarter) helped Rivas take a 34-31 halftime lead.
Ramla started the 2nd quarter with back to back threes by Olena Ogorodnikova and White, but Joens answered with two 3s of her own. Eli Rabi quickly put in Ortal Oren and Joens did not score the rest of the quarter. Points by Nicky Anosike and a 3 by Oren helped Ramla led 51-46 after 3.
Ogorodnikova hit another 3 (Ramla was 9/15 on the game) and Anosike scored to help push the lead to 58-49. White found Oren & Gourevitch for threes to give Ramla its biggest lead at 66-51. Rivas didn't quit and took advantage of three straight Ramla turnovers to get within 8 with 2:30 to play but Ramla made free throws down the stretch and held on to the win.
