Ramla Adanced, 1st Win for Raanana Hertzeliya
Lior Klinger ,11/13/2008
Raanana Hertzeliya got their first EuroCup win, 72 – 66 in France behind 31 points from Charde Houston. Dunav of Bulgaria wasn't much of a challenge for Ramla but a bad shooting night and a late comeback by the Bulgarians led to a modest 80-70 win, but Ramla clinched a place in the next stage. Nicky Anosike led the way with 27 points and 11 boards.

Challas 66 - Raanana Hertzeliya 72
Raanana Hertzeliya handed the French their 1st loss as they celebrated their 1st win after 3 losses. Truth is, this win only increases the frustration level from the previous losses. Raanana Hertzeliya still has a shot of making it to the next stage, if they win the remaining two games.

Raanana Hertzeliya led for most of the game and even by double digits, but they were only up 2 to start the 4th. Shona Thorburn hit a 3 and Houston completed two 3-point plays to push it back up to eight but it wasn't over, until Thorburn hit another 3 to make it 71-64 with 2 minutes left.

Ramla 80 – Dunav 70
Ramla got its biggest lead of the game by 18 with six minutes to play, but couldn't break the game open. The lead was still 15 with 3 minutes left when Eli Rabi cleared the bench, but a 9-0 visitors run suddenly cut the lead to six. Annemarie Parau hit two free throws (her only points of the game) and Shiri Porat hit a 3 with a second left to make the final score somewhat respectable.

"It was looking like a 20-point game but the Bulgarian coach didn't quit, they pressed and played till the end so the margin shrunk", said Rabi. "I don't have many opportunities to let everyone play, most of our games are close, so I wanted to today. Overall we played well tonight, we just didn’t finish. We missed some layups and open shots, but I liked our game overall", he added. There's no doubt that once Ramla's Americans and Bosmans will be on in the same game, Ramla will look great.

The score was 17-16 in favor of Dunav five minutes into the game, when Rabi called timeout and screamed at his team for their absolute lack of defense. Things got remarkably better after that, Ramla made a 12-0 run on their way to a 30-20 lead.

In the 2nd quarter Ramla's momentum slowed down, but they dominated the offensive glass and played decent defense to keep the lead intact. Nicky Anosike and Katia Abramzon had a good first half and helped Ramla lead 47-36 at the break.

Tan White with some baskets and Ortal Oren with a 3 got Ramla a 58-42 lead near the end of the 3rd but Danielle Page, Dunav's only American, woke up with 5 straight points to cut it back to 11. Anosike and Abramzon answered on the other end and Ramla led 64-49 after 3.

Ramla raced to a 71-53 lead with six minutes to go but Dunav kept playing. It was 75-60 with 2 minutes left before back-to-back 3-point plays plus a steal and a three cut it to 69-75, 50 seconds left. Following the timeout Dunav fouled Parau and she hit both from the line. In the next possession she missed twice, but Dunav couldn’t score on the other end. White found Porat for 3 with 1.4 on the clock to set the final score.
