Round 3 MVP – Tamara James
Safsal ,11/06/2008
Ramat Hen's scorer captured round MVP honors with 27 points, she is joined on the 1st Team by one of her teammates. Rounding out the 1st Team are Erin Phillips with her triple double, Ashdod's center and Raanana Hertzeliya's bright spot.
In 'After Shock' – Safsal is disappointed with Raanana Hertzeliya, optimistic on the Israelis front and gives credit to unfamiliar foreigners.

Round 3 MVP – Tamara James
Ramat Hen's forward showed a lot of determination and aggressiveness on her way to 27 points, most of them really not pretty but they got the job done. She reached the free throw line 17 times and added 9 rebounds in Ramat Hen's key win in Hertzeliya.

Round 3 First Team
Erin Phillips - Phillips continues Ramat Hasharon's tradition of triple double, following in Jia Perkin's and Laine Selwyn's foot steps. Phillips got it done in just 25 minutes, and recorded the 4th documented triple double in league history with 14 points, 11 assists and 10 steals in the easy win over Tel Kabir.

Matalya Belvin - Belvin, who was questionable for the game after suffering an injury over the weekend, didn't get off to a good start in the 1st half but exploded in the 2nd. She finished with 15 points on good shooting and did a good job pressuring Raanana Hertzeliya's ball handlers.

Tamara James - Played nearly 40 minutes and had 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for Ramat Hen.

Jennifer Humphrey - Ashdod's center had an efficient game with 16 points (5/9 FGsm 6/6 FTs) and 12 rebounds in a win over Natanya.

Katia Levitzky - Was the lone bright spot in Raanana Hertzeliya's loss to Ramat Hen with 3 for 3 from beyond the arc on her way to 13 points and 6 rebounds in just 22 minutes. Why she was on the bench for so long in the 4th is beyond us.

After Shock

Where has all the offense gone?
In four games this season (not counting Tel Kabir game), only 2 players are averaging double digits for Raanana Hertzeliya. Those are of course Charde Houston (19.5) and Jessica Dickson (18.5). The 3rd best scorer is Katia Levitzky with 7.5, but she's only playing 22.5 minutes per game for some reason. Raanana Hertzeliya lost 3 of those 4 games and would have been 0 – 4 had the refs or Ramat Hasharon's bench noticed that Dickson traveled before inbounding the last ball with 17 seconds left in Ramat Hasharon, which led to the game winning free throws. Six points total is what Raanana Hertzeliya got from its two bosmans against Ramat Hen, and that's pretty much their average. Thorburn seems to have little confidence in her shot and Pierkarska is just a major match up problem against most teams in the league. So far Raanana Hertzeliya isn't clicking, Neda Djuric & Abiola Wabara are badly missed and they're not exactly WNBA stars.

We have Israelis
Before the season we were concerned, what's it gonna be like with no Shay Doron, Liron Cohen or Laine Selwyn. So far, knock on wood, there have been quite a few Israelis who stepped up to fill the void. Katia Levitzky leads all Israelis in scoring with 17 per game, Rivi Grinboym is 2nd with 15.7, Liad Suez Karni follows with 14.5 and there are six more players averaging double figures. Karin Agassi has been a pleasant surprise in Ashdod with 11.0 points off the bench. Also in double digits are Michal Epstein, Merav Dori, Ornit Shwartz, Shira Haelyon and Nomi Kolodny.

Foreigners are not enough
We've been hearing that Hapoel Tel Aviv signed a trio of very good Americans. All three of them are pretty unknown, but so far they've been putting up great numbers. Diamond Rogers lead the way with 20.3 points per game on great shooting, Alex Anderson is also a sure bet with 19.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, and Tieree Wilson adds 14.3 points and 3.3 assists per game. Hapoel has been playing tough in every game but they have yet to get a win, because the club doesn’t have the budget for a decent Israeli roster.
