Ogorodnikova Lands in Ramla

After more than two weeks of wondering if she's really coming, Ukrainian National Team forward Olena Ogorodnikova landed in Israel and joined the defending champions to complete their lineup.

Olena Ogorodnikova (1.86, 27) is the new bosman for Ramla. Israel's national team head coach and Ramla's head coach, Eli Rabi, got to know Ogorodnikova very well over the summer as Israel played the Ukraine twice, losing both times. Ogorodnikova averaged 12.3 points and 6.6 rebounds in 29 minutes per game for the Ukraine, but it did not help them avoid the additional qualifying stage for EuroBasket 09.

Last season Ogorodnikova played in France for Saint Amand, with Tamara Moore. Over 17 games she averaged 11.6 points (55.6% 2pt, 31.1% 3pt) and 5.0 rebounds in 29.8 minutes per game. In 06/07 and 05/06 she played in Russia, and before that only in the Ukraine.

Ramla opens the season this Sunday in Ashdod, 6:20pm – live on channel 5.
