Electra Ramat Hasharon hosted Maccabi Ashdod tonight and looked great in a 74-55 preseason win, even though they are still no where near full strenght. Kiesha Brown in her debut game scored 18 points.

Erin Phillips is supposed to arrive tomorrow but Kiesha Brown, after one practice, seemed as though she's already fitting in. Brown came off the bench today and made the 2nd shot she took, a three. She was active going to the basket and drawing fouls, and also looked good shooting off the dribble. Ebony Hoffman also had a good game in limited minutes due to foul trouble, right now it doesn't look like any team could stop her. Ramat Hasharon's Israelis were excellent led by Merav Dori's 18 points, Liad Suez Karni's 2nd half absence (sore back) went unnoticed.
Ramat Hasharon closed the 1st quarter with a 12-2 run to lead 24-10, and Ashdod had to play catch up all night. The visitors had a very serious problem on the boards and suffered from a low shooting percentage, even the good shots didn't fall. The lead reached 20 in the 2nd quarter as Ashdod played no defense, Tamara Moore hit back to back threes to cut into the lead but Brown with a nice dish to Shani Levi and Nomi Kolodny with a put-back at the buzzer made it 42-25 at the half.
Sherill Baker, who played a lot more in control today and didn't force shots, got going in the 3rd quarter with 7 points but Ramat Hasharon kept their lead intact, 60-41. Hoffman fouled out as the 4th quarter started and suddenly Ashdod got some defensive stops. Baker and Moore cut the lead down to 13 with 3 minutes to play but a few moments of lack of concentration allowed Ramat Hasharon to get some easy baskets and regain their 20-point lead. Ashdod defintely has a lot to think about after a very weak game for Jennifer Humphry, and a total of 11 points from all the Israeli players.
