Ramla Wins Preseason Tournament
Lior Klinger ,10/07/2008
Ramla looked a lot better in today's final against Bnei Yehuda compared to yesterday's performance and won 82-74. Tan White and Nicky Anosike led the way with 17 points. In the 3rd place game, host Natanya beat Holon 64-57.

Ramla 82 – Bnei Yehuda 74
It's unclear what changed in Ramla in the past 24 hours but the team played much better today and with more energy. It was still far from resembling the type of basketball we're used to seeing from the back to back champion but it's a start. Ramla's Israelis, or in more details Ortal Oren & Katya Levitzky, contributed well on offense and even Annmarie Parau recovered from her awful game yesterday and showed improvement. Bnei Yehuda however suffered from a bad shooting night for Candace Futrell, and on a day when Dionnah Jackson pulls one of her disappearing acts, it was too much for them to overcome.

Bnei Yehuda did start well with threes by Futrell, Chen Segal & Rivi Grinboym and led 16-10 midway through the 1st. Ramla answered with a full court press which caused turnovers and generated a 13-0 run. Ramla led 26-19 after 1. Ramla tried to break away in the 2nd but Futrell with a 3-point play and Segal with a 3 kept Bnei Yehuda in the game, as Ramla scored just 2 points in the last 3 minutes. 45-41 at the half.

Not much changed in the 3rd quarter which remained close, 61-60 for Ramla. Sugiery Monsac and Maya Isaroff put Bnei Yehuda up 69-65 early in the 4th but from that point on their decision making went down the drain. White with two nice assists to Abramzon and another fastbreak finish tied the game at 71. Parau with a crazy bank shot 3 at the shotclock buzzer sparked an 11-3 Ramla run to end the game.

Natanya 64 – Holon 57
A game which started with no defense, ended with no offense, but between us at least it ended. Holon without Brandi McCain played with 2 foreigners, and despite the fact Natanya technically has four the game was close through out, since Natanya's bosmans aren't a factor and Holon's young Israelis, Shiarn Zairy & Lin Golan, played well. Natanya was only up 53-52 with 3 minutes to play but then Natasha Brackett, who wasn't involved in the offense enough today, took over and led the home team to victory.

For Natanya:
Natasha Brackett 14 pts
Yana Shapiro & Tamara Ransburg 8 pts each
Ornit Shwartz 7 pts
Sarit Arbel, Ela Karni, Irena Seroshtan & Valentina Vorona 6 pts each
Tali Noy 3 pts

For Holon:
Shiran Zairy 13 pts
Lin Golan 12 pts
Edwina Brown 10 pts
Ayana Walker 8 pts
Hana Haleli & Adi Lux 6 pts each
Noa Shor 2 pts
