Aluma Goren signs with Ramla

This is not a joke. Aluma Goren, who didn't fit in with Hapoel Haifa/Motzkin and considered retirement, has decided to switch teams and sign with none other than Elizur Ramla.

Aluma Goren left Ramat Hasharon this season after six years, but in the last few weeks she realized things weren’t working out. At first she spoke of retiring, but last week there was talk about moving to a new team. Goren, who was the symbol of Ramat Hasharon and led them to numerous titles, has been the least popular player in Ramla to say the very least.

Aluma Goren signed in Ramla, practiced with the team today, and will play on Monday in Ramat Hen. “I’m very happy”, said Tal Natan. “Every coach would want a player of her caliber. She’s amongst the two greatest players in Israeli basketball”.

Last season was Goren’s best in recent years, with 8.4 points per game and a league leading 5.6 assists per game. This season Goren is still the league’s best passer, with 4.7 assists per game. It will be very interesting to see how her arrival in Ramla will effect the other roster moves we’ve been hearing about, and at who’s expense will Yolanda Griffith join the team, if and when that happens.
