Ramat Hasharon Inks Humphrey

Electra Ramat Hasharon signed young center Tasha Humphrey, the Detroit Shock's rookie who's becoming an important part of their tough post rotation. Humphrey is expected to play a lot more now that Cheryl Ford is out for season.

After signing two Bosmans and four Israeli national team players, Ramat Hasharon signed their first foreigner for the 08/09 season. Tasha Humphrey (22, 6'3), a UGA grad, started 15 of 21 games for the Shock this season but is averaging just 13.6 minutes per game. Humphrey is a real post player, a very physical and powerful center that can also hit it from outside, with a 39.5% clip from downtown and 50.4% from the field for the Shock this season.

Humphrey was impressive in quite a few games this season, scoring in double figures eight times including a Shock rookie record 28 points in a win at Phoenix, in just 26 minutes. Humphrey is definitely proving the Shock were right to pick her when she dropped to 11th in the 2008 WNBA draft, following an excellent career at Georgia where she was named to the All SEC team all four years. She averaged 18.0 points and 8.6 rebounds as a senior.

Humphrey is joining Erin Phillips, Abiola Wabara, Liad Suez Karni, Merav Dori, Nomi Kolodny, Ayelet Cohen and Shani Levi who already signed with the team.
