Hapoel Tel Aviv Staying in D1
Safsal ,06/25/2008
Hapoel Tel Aviv which was relegated to D2 at the end of the season, will remain in D1 after all. Also, the cup system has been changed.

The Israeli basketball union announced today that Hapoel Tel Aviv will not be relegated to D2 and remain in D1. The reason is that the team which finished 2nd in D2 and was supposed to move up to D1 along with Natanya (who finished 1st), declined to do so. Hapoel will be the 10th team in the league.

Cup system changed: the cup 1/4 finals will no longer be in a home and away series format. The cup 1/4s, semis and finals will be one game each, win and advance, and will all be held in the same week at the same neutral arena. The cup week will be at the end of December: 1/4s on the 21st, semis on the 23rd and the finals on the 25th.
