Ramla Released Melvin & Smith
Safsal ,12/28/2007
The defending champs released Tangela Smith & Chasity Melvin, the All Star duo who was supposed to carry them very far, and signed young forward Camille Little for a one-month contract.

The budget Ramla thought they had when the season started is a lot higher than what they actually have now, and they were forced to release all four foreigners who they signed before the season. The two Bosmans were replaced by Jaclyn Johnson during the season, and tonight the rumors about Smith & Melvin came true. Both will not be returning to the team, who has signed Camille Little for one month. Another American is supposed to sign in the next few days.

Chasity Melvin was Ramla's leading scorer and rebounder with 17.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, and 2nd to her in both categories was Tangela Smith with 15.1 points and 6.4 boards per game. Smith was also the team's best three point shooter.

Camille Little was the 17th overall pick in the 2007 WNBA draft, one pick after Shay Doron. She played in all 34 games this season for San Antonio, scored 3.9 points and grabbed 4.5 rebounds in 20.9 minutes per game. She's a versatile player who can play both forward positions, inside and out.

Little had a decorated career at North Carolina, she was named ACC Freshman of the year and to the All-ACC 1st team in 2004. She was All-ACC 2nd team in 2007 and All-ACC 3rd team in 2005 & 2006. As a senior with the Tar Heels Little averaged 13.7 points and 5.9 boards per game and was named All-ACC Defensive team thanks to 2.6 steals per game. Her career averages are 12.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
