Maccabi Loses Thriller in Malcha

Yotam Halperin scored 29 points in a career-game in Malcha, but after Jenkins' foul shots, had a chance to win the game and missed from downtown with the buzzer and Jerusalem wins a great thriller against Maccabi Tel Aviv, 89-88.

Without the injured Dror Hajaj, but with Horace Jenkins' debut, Hapoel Jerusalem overcame a short 3-Israeli rotation to hand Maccabi Tel Aviv their second 1-point loss in a row this week.

Jerusalem, behind Timmy Bowers' 17 first half points, took an early 9-point lead, but Maccabi closed it to just 49-46 at the half. The Reds continued to dominate in the third, but Halperin's crazy buzzer-beater from downtown set the score on a 68-72 deficit after 3 quarters.

The final period was a see-saw. Vujcic put Maccabi ahead by 3 with 2 minutes to go, but Pniny scored his only 4 points to take the lead, while Sharp loses the ball on a charge on the other end.

Halperin tied the game with a three-point play, but after Jenkins' missed jumper, he split his foul shots, and Maccabi sent Jenkins to the line with 9 ticks to go. He scored twice with the final points of the evening, Halperin had a chance to win it, but his three-pointer rattled out.

Bowers had 23 for the winners, Jenkins 16, Tapiro 15 and Austin 13. Halperin had 29 on 6 of 8 shooting from outside, Vujcic added 14 and Burstein 10.
