Safsal ,01/27/2007
3 days before their ULEB Cup playoff game with Ventspils, Hapoel Jerusalem led their game against Maccabi Rishon in a double-digit lead, en route to a 104-85 win. The rest of the game on Sunday: Afula - Maccabi, Bnei Hasharon - Ramat Gan, Givat Shmuel - Nahariya and Ashkelon - Galil.

Hapoel Jerusalem went over 50% only after 7 gamedays, but now after 3 straight wins, they close out the first round in good fashion, with just 3 losses, all of them on the road to the top 3, which will arrive in Malcha next round.

Jerusalem scored the first 6 points, and right away it became a duel between Austin and Tolbert, who scored his team's first 10. 4 three's in a row by the Reds and the margin is 13 already, Moore got injured and left and it's 31-20 after one.

The locals kept launching three-pointers, and their second unit, with Cota, Pniny, Morris and Markovich, did a great job on both ends of the floor. Tolbert was all alone, and at intermission the lead was stretched to 61-37.

Rishon started the third quarter with an 8-0 run, but couldn't cut it below 14. The rest of the evening was garbage time, as coach Katz was ejected from the game. In the end, 104-85.

Markovich and Pniny led 6 players in double-figures with 18 and 17 respectively, while Tolbert had 33 in a losing cause.
