Jerusalem Survives Galil's Scare

Hapoel Jerusalem held off Galil's second half run behind Simmons' hot shooting, and won on the road 100-90 with 30 points by Austin. The rest of the games on Monday: Rishon - Maccabi TA, Nahariya - Bnei Hasharon, Gilboa/Afula - Givat Shmuel and Ramat Gan - Ashkelon.

Hapoel Jerusalem got 2 games above .500% for the first time this season, after defeating Galil Elyon on the road, 100-90.

Mario Austin was unstoppable inside, Jerusalem scored the first 6 points of the evening and led 25-16 after one period. Gilly Mossinzon, with a superb debut, cut the lead with 9 second-quarter points, but Austin and Bowers maintained the small edge, 45-37 at intermission.

Bratic, who was quiet until then, woke up after the break, and together with Gordon and the fantastic Tre Simmons who also had a promising premiere, Galil took the lead after a long time, 54-52. Again it was Austin, which Galil couldn't stop, who swung the see-saw once again, 69-65 Jerusalem after 30 minutes.

Bratic, with 19 second half points, together with Simmons' hot hand, put Galil ahead by a bucket, but Hajaj didn't let the game slip. Together with smart plays by Pniny, Jerusalem closed the game with a 21-8 run, which helped them to survive Galil's scare, 100-90 in the end.

Simmons and Bratic led Galil with 29 and 21 respectively, while Austin had 30 for the winners, Bowers added 20, Pniny and Hajaj 16 apiece.
