David Blatt, with his new team St. Petersburg, came real close to defeat Maccabi Tel Aviv in an exhibition match, but the Yellows recorded another "W".

Maccabi Tel Aviv 97 - St. Petersburg 91
The Russians played very quickly right from the start, and led by the end of the first, 28-23. Cota's playmaking and McCarty's outside shooting kept the visitors ahead, as Parker's athletic bucket sent Maccabi to intermission within 2, 49-51.

Blatt's team was terrific and ran to a 12-point third quarter lead. But when Davis faded away (Only 1 point after halftime), and Sharp stopped Cota, Maccabi started to cut the lead to 1, 70-69.

Like in the last time they met, the difference was Derrick Sharp. Good defense, and clutch three's, led Maccabi to a 10-point lead with 4 minutes remaining. The Russians couldn't erase the gap. Maccabi walked away with the win, St. Petersburg with the compliments.

Baston tallied 25 points and 14 boards in a great game, Parker added 16, Green, Sharp and Vujcic 15 each, Jasikevicius 5, Halperin, Burstein and Kommatos 2 apiece. McCarty had 18 in a losing cause, all from beyond the arch, Davis added 17 and 9 boards, Askerevic 17 and Cota 14 with 6 assists.
