No Fight for Maccabi in Ashkelon
Avi Yofe ,10/23/2006
In their first official game of the season, Maccabi Tel Aviv crushed Ironi Ashkelon on the road 111-72 in the first game of the State Cup's 1/8 finals. Bynum tallied 19 points and 7 assists.

Without two foreigners who still haven't signed and without the injured Lior Lifshitz, Ironi Ashkelon was no match at home to Maccabi Tel Aviv, which won easily, 111-72.

Ashkelon started 6-2, but Maccabi scored 9 unanswered points to take the lead for good, 31-19 after one. Bynum danced on the floor, Vujcic found Eliyahu for open lay-ups and Maccabi led 62-34 at intermission, and the rest was pure garbage time.

Maccabi: Bynum 19 (7 AS), Buford 17, Felix and Eliyahu 15 each, Arnold 13, Halperin 11, Green 6, Jasaitis 5, Vujcic 4, Sharp and Fanan 3 each.

Ashkelon: Hatten 21, Myles 17, Eitan 15, Colman 9 (7 AS), Marko 5, Yakusi 3 and Biton 2.
