U20 Men advance to EC Finals
Shlomi Peri ,07/31/2004
Four years ago, the Israeli U20 men's team lost to Slovenia at the buzzer in the European Championship game. Tomorrow Israel and Slovenia meet again, a chance for Israel to get some payback.

Israel 88 - Greece 82

Israel led 15-13 after 1 and 36-29 at the half, thanks to terrible shooting from the line and countless misses under the basket by the Greeks. Lior Eliyahoo helped Israel build a 16 point lead in the 3rd quarter. A three by Halperin made it 62-48 after 3.

The Greeks turned the game around with a 15-0 run to start the 4th and took a 63-62 lead. A big basket by Limonad put Israel back up by one and they regained the momentum. Israel pushed the lead to 10 with threes by Limonad and Halperin, but the Greeks had another run in them.

Halperin missed twice from the line, Zagori missed one more and Limonad missed two but an offensive rebound by Eliyahoo and a flagrant foul against the Greeks allowed Israel to start celebrating the finals.

For Israel:

Yotam Halperin - 32 pts, 6/6 threes, 7 rebs, 3 assists, 3 steals

Raviv Limonad - 18 pts, 3 assists

Lior Eliyahoo - 16 pts, 6 rebs

Erez Kohanski - 4 pts, 5 rebs

Eylon Zagori - 5 pts

Anton Kazarnovski - 4 pts, 5 rebs
