Maccabi Tel Aviv finished their Euroleague preparation with a surprising defeat in Belgium to Charleroi, 85-89. Solomon scored 21 in the stadium in which he won the ULEB Cup trophy in 2004.

In their last preparation game of the season before the Euroleague's first game next Thursday against Prokom, Maccabi Tel Aviv lost tonight in Belgium to Charleroi, 85-89. Maccabi finished their pre-season with a 8-2 record, as Charleroi became the first European team to defeat the Yellows since Barcelona in February.

Gur Shelef was amongst 6,000 excited fans in the Spirodom which saw Maccabi lead 25-23 after one period. Great minutes by Marcus Faison (26 points tonight) led the local side to a big run that gave them a 10-point edge, before Will Solomon sank a three-pointer which set the halftime score on 43-50.

Maccabi enjoyed good outside percentage, but the veteran Ralph Biggs was there to maintain the lead, and again the quarter ended with a Yellow make from outside, this time by Sharp, who cut the lead to 65-67.

Charleroi already led by as many as 11 points in the final period, before Maccabi returned with a 15-4 run capped by Shason's downtown bury, 85 all. However, Damir Krupalija scored 4 of his 20 in the final minute, Baston and Solomon failed to score and the upset was complete, 89-85.

Will Solomon led Maccabi with 21 points, Anthony Parker added 20 and Maceo Baston 15.
