Arnold Replaces Thomas in Maccabi
Uri Savir ,08/26/2005
After Deon Thomas left to Spain, Maccabi Tel Aviv pick up his replacement exactly from the same country and sign Jamie Arnold from Badalona.

Jamie Arnold (30, 2.03 m) has signed today for two years with Maccabi Tel Aviv, and he'll replace Deon Thomas, who left the Yellows to Menorca from the ACB.

Arnold, who's married to an Israeli woman, now awaits to see if he would get an Israeli passport. If not, he can play only in the Euroleague, while in Israel, Maccabi will have to rotate every night only 4 of the following 6: Solomon, Penney, Parker, Baston, Vujcic and Arnold.

Arnold, who graduated from Wichita State, arrived to Galil in 98/9 after one season in Belgium. He had a tremendous first season, in which he led all rebounders in the league with 9.6 boards per game, and was kept for another season. However, an injury before christmas, interfered his terrific start (22.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2 three-pointers per game in 67%!), and he was released.

Arnold also won the rebounding title in France, with 11.3 per game. He also played in Cyrpus, and after leading Novo Mesto to the Slovenian league title and ULEB Cup final, he was signed by Badalona, where he spent the last two seasons.
