After Tunji Awojobi's return, Bnei Hasharon adds another Nigerian to the league: Ugonna Onyekwe, who played last two seasons in Spain's second division.
Ugonna Onyekwe (26, 2.03 m) joins Cookie Bletcher as Bnei Hasharon's second foreign player for next season. Onyekwe averaged 6.2 points and 2.8 boards playing for Chicago Bulls in Lav Vegas summer camp league.
The Nigerian forward, who played college ball for Pensylvenya (2nd all-time scorer), led the Spanish second league in scoring two seasons ago, while averaging 19.6 points per game for Leon. Last season he averaged 13.7 points and 6.2 rebounds for Huelva, still in the LEB, and was voted Defensive player of the year by "Eurobasket".
He's a huge athlete, with great defensive skills, terrific quickness and long arms. "U", as he's nicknamed, was born in Lagos, but grew up in London and at 16 moved to the States.
