Maccabi to Play the Raptors

Six years after their last game against an NBA team, Maccabi Tel Aviv will play an exhibition friendly with the Toronto Raptors in October.
Interesting news following a meeting between Mr. Arye Mekel, Israel's consul in New York, and David Stern, the NBA commissioner: Maccabi Tel Aviv will play against the Toronto Raptors in their North America tour next October. The idea was suggested by Mr. Kobi Brosh, the consul in Toronto.
Maccabi is also negotiating with the New Jersey Nets and the Miami Heat, whose one of his owners is Ra'anan Katz, who also holds stocks in the Euroleague champs.
The last time Maccabi played a friendly versus an NBA team was in 1999, when Miami Heat came to Tel Aviv, as a part of the Martin Muursepp deal, who belonged to the Israeli champions when the Heat selected him in the first round of the draft.
The Heat, with Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway, played in front of a full house of 10,000 people in Yad Eliyahu, and won 126-91. In the past Maccabi has also hosted NBA champs in the end of the 70's, the Washington Bullets, and in the early 90's has travelled to play the Lakers and Clippers in LA.
The Raptors, who were nearly upsetted by Benneton Treviso in the last summer (Just 86-83), have just released their big star, Vince Carter. However, the only NBA team in Canada has the promising Chris Bosh and veteran Jalen Rose, who just like Maceo Baston (Ex-Raptor), has graduated from Michigan University (In the Fab-5 era).
