Maccabi Tel Aviv opened their pre-season schedule tonight, by winning the Bendel Cup after defeating Galil Elyon/Gilboa in Tzemah, 95:60.

Maccabi played without their national team players, Yaniv Green, Lior Eliyahu and Omri Casspi, and also lacked the injured Rodney White and Marcus Fizer. Jayson Williams left early in the first round, after suffering a little blow.

The Yellows controlled the game right from the start, as Carlos Arroyo scored 8 of his 24 points in the first quarter, to give Maccabi a 14-point lead. Back-to-back three's by Tre Simmons sealed the deal in the next period, and the rest was pure garbage time.

Maccabi: Arroyo 24 (4 AS), Batista 15 (7 Rebs), Fisher 13 (14 Rebs, 3 BS), Simmons and Burstein 11 each, Sharp, Buchman and Hajaj 6 each, Williams 3 and Tishman didn't score. Aaron Nixon and Brian Randle had 18 and 15 respectively in a losing cause.
